Vitamin D2 (6,19,19-d3) is a deuterated form of vitamin D2-- a fat-soluble vitamin that plays a role in numerous biochemical processes, including the absorption and metabolism of calcium and phosphorus-- where the protons at positions C-6 and C-19 are replaced with deuterium. Vitamin D2, also called ergocalciferol, is synthesized by plants and mushrooms upon exposure to sunlight.
