VIP36 Antibody (264C4a) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects VIP36 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). VIP36 (264C4a) antibody is available as a non-conjugated anti-VIP36 antibody. VIP36 protein, also known as lectin mannose-binding 1, plays a crucial role in the early secretory pathway by functioning as an intracellular lectin that facilitates selective transport of newly synthesized glycoproteins from the endoplasmic reticulum to the endoplasmic reticulum-Golgi intermediate compartment. VIP36 is essential for sorting and transport of glycoproteins that carry high mannose-type glycans, ensuring these molecules reach their correct destinations within the cell. Additionally, VIP36 interacts with ERGIC-53, another mannose-specific lectin, which recognizes specific sugar residues on glycoproteins and glycolipids, mediating their sorting and recycling. Proper functioning of VIP36 and its interactions are vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis, and any disruption in this process can lead to significant cellular dysfunction. Notably, a null expression of ERGIC-53, also designated LMAN1, is associated with a rare autosomal recessive bleeding disorder characterized by a combined deficiency of coagulation factors V and VIII, highlighting the importance of these proteins in health and disease.

I am using VIP36 (264C4a): sc-130026 antibody for immunoprecipitation, how much antibody should I use?

    Asked by: jenniferc
Thank you for your question. We recommend using 1–10 µl (i.e., 0.2–2 µg) of antibody with 1 ml of cell lysate. However, optimal antibody concentration should be determined by titration. Please find our full immunoprecipitation protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoprecipitation-western-blots
