Versican Antibody (4C5) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects versican protein of human and bovine origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-versican antibody (4C5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Versican, also known as chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan 2, is a large extracellular matrix proteoglycan that plays a crucial role in cell growth and differentiation, making versican essential for maintaining tissue integrity and facilitating cellular communication. Versican is primarily located in the extracellular matrix, where versican contributes to the formation of hydrated matrices that are vital during developmental processes and in the pathology of various diseases. Versican′s presence in the extracellular matrix is particularly important as versican influences cell behavior, including migration and proliferation, by modulating the physical properties of the matrix. Additionally, versican′s interaction with hyaluronic acid and other glycosaminoglycans allows versican to create a unique microenvironment that can affect cellular responses, which is significant in contexts such as wound healing and tumor progression. The human versican gene is located on chromosome 5q14.3, and versican′s differential expression in conditions like melanoma highlights versican′s potential as a biomarker for clinical diagnosis and therapeutic targeting.
