Verotoxin IIB Antibody (7582) is a mouse monoclonal IgG antibody that detects Verotoxin IIB protein of non-species reactive by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Verotoxin IIB antibody (7582) is available as a non-conjugated format. Verotoxin IIB, a member of the Shiga-like toxin family produced by Escherichia coli, plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of severe gastrointestinal diseases. This protein consists of an A subunit, which exerts toxic effects, and five B subunits that facilitate binding to specific receptors on target cells, particularly vascular endothelial cells. The interaction of B subunits with glycosphingolipid Gb3 on the cell membrane enables toxin entry and subsequent ribosome inactivation, leading to protein synthesis disruption. Verotoxin IIB′s ability to target and damage endothelial cells can result in severe clinical manifestations such as hemolytic uremic syndrome, characterized by acute kidney injury and thrombocytopenia. Rapid onset of symptoms following exposure underscores the importance of understanding Verotoxin IIB′s mechanism of action, making anti-Verotoxin IIB antibody (7582) an essential tool for research into these effects and potential therapeutic interventions.
