QUICK LINKS

Venturicidin B is an antibiotic that has been reported to be a potent inhibitor of the ATP5 (mitochondrial ATP synthase complex). This compound interferes with the F0 portion of membrane-located K+ and H+-ATPase channels and decreases probability of the channels from opening. By blocking proton transfer across the membrane, Venuricidin B causes a halt in ATP synthase activity.
