VCAM-1 Antibody (M/K-2) is a rat monoclonal IgG1 antibody raised against stromal cells from mouse bone marrow, reactive with mouse, rat, porcine, and human VCAM-1. Vascular Cell Adhesion Molecule 1 (VCAM-1), also known as CD106, is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily. Structurally, VCAM-1 consists of seven extracellular immunoglobulin-like domains, a single transmembrane segment, and a short cytoplasmic tail; this structure is crucial as the immunoglobulin-like domains facilitate binding to integrins on leukocytes, particularly VLA-4 (α4β1 integrin). VCAM-1 binding mediates the adhesion of leukocytes to the vascular endothelium, a key step in immune surveillance and inflammatory response. VCAM-1 expression on endothelial cells is upregulated by inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-1 (IL-1), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), and lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Understanding VCAM-1 structural features is important because alterations can affect integrin interaction, impacting leukocyte adhesion and migration, which are critical in conditions like atherosclerosis and autoimmune diseases. Anti-VCAM-1 antibody (M/K-2) is suitable for applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). VCAM-1 (M/K-2) monoclonal antibody aids in studying endothelial activation, leukocyte adhesion, and mechanisms underlying vascular inflammation.
