UVRAG Antibody (2E8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects UVRAG protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-UVRAG antibody (2E8) is available as the non-conjugated form. UVRAG protein, also known as UV radiation resistance-associated gene, p63, or DHTX, is a 699 amino acid cytoplasmic protein that plays a crucial role in cellular homeostasis by activating the BECN1/PI 3-kinase complex, essential for autophagy. Autophagy is vital for degrading cellular proteins in lysosomes, and dysregulation can lead to uncontrolled cell growth, contributing to various diseases, including cancer. Mutations in UVRAG have been linked to colon cancer, indicating a significant role in suppressing proliferation and tumorigenicity of human colon cancer cells. UVRAG has been shown to complement ultraviolet sensitivity of xeroderma pigmentosum group C cells, highlighting importance in DNA repair mechanisms. UVRAG is ubiquitously expressed, found at highest levels in kidney, lung, liver, and brain, and contains one C2 domain, believed to facilitate calcium-dependent phospholipid binding, further underscoring functional relevance in cellular processes.
