QUICK LINKS

Urapidil HCl functions as an α1-adrenoceptor antagonist. It acts by competitively inhibiting the binding of norepinephrine to α1-adrenoceptors, leading to vasodilation. Urapidil HCl targets the smooth muscle cells in blood vessels, causing relaxation and subsequent dilation of the vessels. By blocking the α1-adrenoceptors, Urapidil HCl prevents the vasoconstrictive effects of norepinephrine, ultimately leading to a decrease in peripheral vascular resistance. This mechanism of action results in a reduction in blood pressure, which may be useful for studying the regulation of vascular tone and blood pressure in experimental models.
