UCMA Antibody (H-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 kappa light chain antibody that detects Unique cartilage matrix-associated protein (UCMA) of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-UCMA antibody (H-2) is available as the non-conjugated isotype antibody. UCMA, a 138 amino acid secreted protein, plays a crucial role in the early phase of chondrocyte differentiation, being highly expressed in resting chondrocytes within developing long bones. UCMA undergoes post-translational modification by a furin-like protease, which cleaves UCMA into an N-terminal 37 amino acid peptide and a C-terminal 74 amino acid peptide, known as the Unique cartilage matrix-associated protein C-terminal fragment (Ucma-C). This modification is significant as recombinant Ucma-C interferes with the osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells, MC3T3-E1 preosteoblasts, and primary osteoblasts, indicating UCMA may play a vital role in the negative regulation of osteogenic differentiation at the cartilage-bone interface and in the peripheral zones of fetal cartilage. UCMA′s ability to modulate these processes highlights UCMA′s importance in skeletal development and potential implications in bone-related disorders.
