UCKL1 Antibody (SY-16) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects UCKL1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). UCKL1, also known as uridine-cytidine kinase 1-like 1, URKL1, or F538, is a 548 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in pyrimidine metabolism, which is essential for cell proliferation and blast transformation. UCKL1 is primarily localized in the cytoplasm but can translocate to the nucleus through interaction with the Epstein-Barr virus nuclear antigen 3A (EBNA-3A). Once in the nucleus, UCKL1 is involved in the ATP-dependent ribonucleotide salvage pathway, where UCKL1 catalyzes the conversion of uridine triphosphate (UTP) and cytidine triphosphate (CTP) into uridine monophosphate (UMP) and cytidine monophosphate (CMP), respectively. This function is vital for maintaining nucleotide pools necessary for DNA and RNA synthesis, thereby supporting cellular growth and division. Additionally, UCKL1 is subject to ubiquitin-mediated degradation via the E3 ligase NKLAM, which regulates UCKL1 levels within the cell. The presence of three isoforms of UCKL1, resulting from alternative splicing, further highlights the complexity and regulatory mechanisms governing UCKL1 function.
