UBE2D2 Antibody (Y-20) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects UBE2D2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-UBE2D2 antibody (Y-20) is available as a non-conjugated format. UBE2D2 plays a crucial role in the ubiquitin-proteasome system, which is essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis by regulating protein degradation. UBE2D2 is primarily located in the cytoplasm, where UBE2D2 interacts with various E3 ligases to facilitate the ubiquitination process. UBE2D2′s cytoplasmic localization enables quick responses to cellular stress and regulation of misfolded or damaged protein degradation, preventing potentially toxic aggregate accumulation. UBE2D2 catalyzes IκBα ubiquitination in a phosphorylation and SCFβ-TRCP-dependent manner, where E1 first transfers ubiquitin to UBE2D2, which then associates with E3 ligase to conjugate a poly-ubiquitin chain onto target proteins. This tagging process is vital for IκBα degradation by the proteasome, which subsequently allows NFκB to translocate to the nucleus and activate genes involved in immune and inflammatory responses.
