Trypsin Inhibitor, Corn (CTI) is a specific, reversible inhibitor of trypsin as well as a potent and specific inhibitor of human Factor XII (Factor XIIa). It may function in host resistance against fungal pathogens in crops. Also, it may act to decrease the tissue-type plasminogen activator-mediated fibrinolysis of human plasma. A scientific study found that the predictive risk of bleeding in haemophilia A phenotypes was correlated with the maximum levels of thrombin generation from whole blood in the presence of Trypsin Inhibitor, Corn. Antifungal activity has been observed by Trypsin Inhibitor, Corn inhibiting Apergillus flavus alpha-Amylase.
