Trimethylhydroxysilane is an organosilicon derivative of silane used as a hydrophobic coat on silicate surfaces. The surface produced by Trimethylhydroxysilane is composed of methyl groups. Studies indicate that Trimethylhydroxysilane can be produced from the hydrolysis of polydimethylsiloxane chains. Furthermore, Trimethylhydroxysilane is being studied for potential uses as an antimicrobial agent.
