QUICK LINKS

Tomatidine hydrochloride is a steriodal alkaloid structurally similar to cyclopamine (sc-200929) but does not inhibit hedgehog pathway. It can be employed as a negative control for cyclopamine (sc-200929) and KAAD-cyclopamine. Tomatidine hydrochloride is a compound present in the skins and leaves of tomatoes. It exhibits the ability to inhibit NF-κB signaling in LPS-stimulated macrophages, thereby blocking the expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and COX-2.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DyleDyle, MC. et al. (PubMed 24719321) reported that Tomatidine, in mice, increased skeletal muscle mTORC1 signaling, reduced skeletal muscle atrophy, enhanced recovery from skeletal muscle atrophy, stimulated skeletal muscle hypertrophy, and increased strength and exercise capacity. They propose that Tomatidine is a novel small molecule inhibitor of muscle atrophy. -SCBT Publication Review
