Tom34 Antibody (S-05) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Tom34 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Tom34 antibody (S-05) is available as a non-conjugated monoclonal isotype antibody. Tom34 protein, also known as TOMM34, URCC3, or HTOM34P, is a crucial component of the mitochondrial preprotein translocase complex, which is essential for importing nuclear-encoded precursor proteins into mitochondria. This 309 amino acid protein is characterized by six tetratricopeptide repeats (TPR), which play a significant role in protein-protein interactions. Located on the cytoplasmic side of the mitochondrial outer membrane, Tom34 (S-05) antibody recognizes a chaperone-like protein that binds to mature portions of unfolded proteins, facilitating proper import into mitochondria. This process is vital for maintaining mitochondrial function and cellular energy production, as mitochondria generate ATP through oxidative phosphorylation. Tom34 expression is upregulated in colon cancer cells, suggesting a potential role in tumor progression and making Tom34 a promising target for therapeutic anti-cancer strategies.

Is the anti TOMM34 antibody sc-101284 also suitable to detect mouse TOM34? Thank you

Asked by: Edding400
Thank you for your question. This antibody has not yet been tested in mouse and so that is not a recommended species at this time. We are still gathering data to show on our website. Check back for updates!

I am using Tom34 (S-05): sc-101284 for immunofluorescence, what dilution of this antibody should I use?

Asked by: Germaine
Thank you for your question. We recommend a starting dilution of 1:50. However, optimal antibody concentration should be determined by titration. Please find our full immunofluorescence protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunofluorescence-cell-staining
