TNP 470, is an analog of fumagillin, exhibits potent angiogenesis inhibition. Angiogenesis is the process by which new blood vessels form from pre-existing vessels. Angiogenesis is a mechanism in various physiological processes, but it also plays a significant role in the growth and metastasis of tumors. By irreversibly deactivating methionine aminopeptidase-2 (MetAP2) it effectively impedes endothelial cell proliferation in vitro and angiogenesis in vivo. MetAP2 is an enzyme involved in the regulation of endothelial cell proliferation and migration, which are key processes in angiogenesis. Notably, TNP 470 does not impact MetAP1 activity.
