Tin(II) fluoride (SnF2) demonstrates its versatility across various applications. It functions as a Sn4+ inhibitor during the synthesis of formamidinium tin Iodide (FASnI3) perovskite solar cells (PSCs), a process facilitated by the formation of the Tin(II) fluoride-pyrazine complex. It is also used as a catalyst in glycerol ketalization, Knoevenagel condensation, and aldol-type reactions. Additionally, in the synthesis of α, β-epoxy ketone from α, α-dibromoacetophenone, aliphatic aldehyde, and aromatic aldehyde, through the oxidative addition of carbon-halogen bonds.
