Thy-1 Antibody (YBM29/21) is a rat monoclonal IgG2c antibody that detects Thy-1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). Thy-1, also known as CDw90, is a phosphatidyl-anchored cell surface glycoprotein that plays a crucial role in cell adhesion and signaling, particularly in hematopoietic stem cells. Thy-1 expression is vital for identifying specific subpopulations of cells within mixed colonies, especially when coexpressed with CD34, as Thy-1 marks a subset of putative hematopoietic, pleuripotent stem cells in normal human bone marrow. Thy-1+ cells have been implicated in syngeneic graft versus host disease, highlighting Thy-1′s importance in regulating autoreactivity following bone marrow transplantation. Understanding Thy-1 function is essential for advancing therapeutic strategies in regenerative medicine and immunology, as Thy-1 may influence stem cell behavior and interactions within the hematopoietic niche.
