Thy-1 Antibody (T24/31) is a rat monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects Thy-1 in mouse samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), flow cytometry (FCM), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Thy-1 is a phosphatidyl-anchored cell surface glycoprotein that plays a crucial role in cell adhesion and signaling, particularly in the immune system. Thy-1 expression is vital for identifying specific subpopulations of hematopoietic stem cells, especially when coexpressed with CD34 in normal human bone marrow, which helps to isolate putative pluripotent stem cells. Thy-1+ cells have been linked to significant immunological processes, including the regulation of autoreactivity following bone marrow transplants and the development of graft versus host disease. Understanding Thy-1 function is essential for advancing therapeutic strategies in regenerative medicine and immunotherapy, as Thy-1 may influence the behavior of stem cells and their interactions within the hematopoietic niche.
