Thy-1 Antibody (53-2.1) is a rat monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects Thy-1 in mouse samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and flow cytometry (FCM). Thy-1 is a phosphatidyl-anchored cell surface glycoprotein that plays a crucial role in cell adhesion and signaling, particularly in the context of hematopoietic stem cells. Thy-1 presence on the surface of these cells is vital for their interaction with the bone marrow microenvironment, which is essential for maintaining stem cell quiescence and regulating differentiation. Thy-1+ cells coexpressing with CD34 mark a specific subpopulation of hematopoietic stem cells, which has significant implications in both normal physiology and pathological conditions, such as syngeneic graft versus host disease. Understanding Thy-1 function is important for developing therapeutic strategies in bone marrow transplantation and for enhancing the efficacy of stem cell therapies.
