SEE ALSO...

THTR1 Antibody (R-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects THTR1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-THTR1 antibody (R-5) is available as the non-conjugated form. THTR1, encoded by the SLC19A2 gene, plays a crucial role in cellular uptake of thiamine, a vital micronutrient necessary for various metabolic processes, including energy production and neurotransmitter synthesis. THTR1 is primarily located in the plasma membrane of cells in the liver and other tissues, where THTR1 facilitates thiamine transport into cells, ensuring cellular requirements for this essential vitamin are met. THTR1′s function is particularly important because thiamine deficiency can lead to severe neurological and cardiovascular disorders, highlighting the significance of effective thiamine transport in maintaining cellular health. Thiamine uptake by THTR1 is influenced by several factors, including sodium levels, pH, and structural analogues, which can either enhance or inhibit transport activity. Mutations in the SLC19A2 gene can disrupt THTR1 functionality, leading to conditions such as thiamine-responsive megaloblastic anemia, underscoring THTR1′s importance in human health.
