THC Antibody (C29) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects THC protein through enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-THC antibody (C29) is available as a non-conjugated isotype antibody. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the primary psychoactive component of the Cannabis plant, playing a crucial role in the plant′s defense mechanisms against herbivores and pathogens. The structure of THC, characterized by its unique arrangement of carbon rings and functional groups, is essential for its interaction with cannabinoid receptors, particularly the CB1 receptor in the brain. This interaction is responsible for the diverse pharmacological effects of THC, including analgesia, relaxation, and alterations in sensory perception. Additionally, the structural properties of THC contribute to its ability to absorb ultraviolet light, providing protection to the plant from harmful radiation. Research into THC′s therapeutic potential has revealed its possible benefits in treating conditions such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson′s disease, cancer, and Alzheimer′s disease, although its classification as an illegal substance in the United States poses significant challenges for further investigation.
