TFIID [TBP] Antibody (58C9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects TFIID protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). TFIID [TBP] (58C9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase, phycoerythrin, fluorescein isothiocyanate, and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. TFIID protein plays a crucial role in the initiation of transcription in eukaryotic cells, serving as a key component of the transcription machinery that assembles at the core promoter region. TFIID recognizes and binds to the TATA box, a conserved DNA sequence located approximately 25-30 base pairs upstream of the transcription start site, which is essential for the recruitment of RNA polymerase II and other transcription factors. TATA-binding protein (TBP), a subunit of TFIID, contains a highly conserved C-terminal domain that is critical for function, as TBP facilitates the bending of DNA, allowing for proper assembly of the transcription pre-initiation complex. This process is vital for accurate expression of protein-coding genes, making TFIID an essential player in gene regulation and cellular function.

I would like to use this antibody for EMSA (Gelshift), would you recommend using the regular form or the x-form of the antibody (TransCruz reagent)?

Asked by: TinTin
We recommend using the TransCruz reagent form, sc-421 X, when performing ChIP or EMSA assays. This more concetrated form lets you use a smaller volume, which is desired when doing EMSA experiments. The x-form can also be used in other applications such as Western Blot or IHC, but the dilution should be adjusted by a factor of 10 to account for the higher original concentration.
