tert-Amyl methyl ether (TAME) is a volatile organic compound (VOC) used in a variety of industrial and laboratory applications. For example, it is used as a fuel additive, as a solvent for paints and coatings, and as a laboratory reagent for synthesizing other compounds. Additionally, its neuroprotective effects are due to its ability to modulate the activity of several neurotransmitters, such as glutamate, dopamine, and norepinephrine. Moreover, studies have reported antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancer effects of TAME.
