Terreic acid is a metabolite that displays antibiotic properties. Terreic Acid has been found to covalently inhibit UDP-N-Acetylglucosamine 1-Carboxyvinyltransferase (MurA), a bacterial cell wall biosynthetic enzyme. This compound has also been found to inhibit the catalytic activity of BTK (Bruton′s tyrosine kinase) and the interaction of Btk with protein kinase C beta type (PKCβII) without affecting the activity of PKC. Terreic Acid is useful to study BTK′s role in cellular signaling.
