Tebuthiuron is a systemic herbicide. Remarkably, tebuthiuron is a non-selective and non-volatile herbicide that demonstrates efficacy against a broad spectrum of weeds while maintaining a relatively safe profile. Extensive research has focused on evaluating the effectiveness of tebuthiuron in plant control. The mechanism of action of tebuthiuron involves the inhibition of the enzyme acetolactate synthase (ALS). ALS plays a role in the biosynthesis of branched-chain amino acids, and its inhibition ultimately results in the demise of the targeted plant.
