TCP-1 α Antibody (84a) is a rat monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects TCP-1 in mouse, rat, human, and hamster samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). TCP-1, or t complex polypeptide 1, is a crucial subunit of the chaperonin containing TCP-1 (CCT) complex, which is essential for the proper folding of cytosolic proteins, particularly actins and tubulins. The CCT complex is composed of eight distinct subunits, each encoded by different genes, and plays a vital role in maintaining cellular function by ensuring that proteins achieve their correct conformation. TCP-1 involvement in various cellular processes, including cell division and cytoskeletal organization, is critical for maintaining structural integrity and functionality of cells. TCP-1 has been linked to developmental processes, as its absence can lead to embryonic lethality in model organisms. TCP-1′s ability to interact with other proteins and assist in their folding highlights its significance in cellular homeostasis and the potential consequences of its dysfunction, which can lead to various diseases. Anti-TCP-1 antibody (84a) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying the dynamics of protein folding and the role of molecular chaperones in health and disease.
