TBP Antibody (A-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects TBP of Saccharomyces cerevisiae origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). TBP (A-9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The TATA-binding protein (TBP) plays a crucial role in the initiation of transcription in eukaryotic cells, as TBP is essential for the formation of the pre-initiation complex at the promoter region of protein-coding genes. TBP binds specifically to the TATA box, a conserved DNA sequence located approximately 25-30 base pairs upstream of the transcription start site, facilitating the recruitment of other transcription factors and RNA polymerase II. This interaction is vital for accurate and efficient transcription of genes, as TBP helps position the transcription machinery correctly and ensures gene expression is tightly regulated. TBP is characterized by a highly conserved C-terminal domain, which is critical for DNA binding and interaction, highlighting TBP′s importance in transcriptional regulation.
