QUICK LINKS

Tazobactam, Free acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that functions by irreversibly binding to the active site of beta-lactamase enzymes, thereby preventing them from hydrolyzing beta-lactam antibiotics. This allows the antibiotics to remain active and effectively inhibit bacterial cell wall synthesis. Tazobactam, Free acid acts as a suicide substrate, forming a covalent bond with the serine residue in the active site of beta-lactamase enzymes. This interaction blocks the enzyme′s ability to break down beta-lactam antibiotics.
