Taurocholic acid, also known as taurochenodeoxycholic acid or TCDA, is a naturally occurring bile acid in the human body. It has been utilized to explore the impacts of bile acids on lipid absorption, their role in managing cholesterol metabolism, and their involvement in the onset of certain diseases. Moreover, it has been used to examine the pharmacokinetics of bile acids, their effects on the gut microbiota, and their potential role in the development of specific cancers. Following absorption in the small intestine, taurocholic acid is transported back to the liver, where it reverts to cholic acid.
