Taspine is an immunomodulator and AChE inhibitor that has shown to inhibit of the activity of tumor angiogenesis in vitro. Taspine has shown properties of bacteriostaticity and cytotoxicity. Taspine, a dimeric quinazoline alkaloid, is thought to function as a cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme inhibitor. This enzyme plays a role in inflammation and the synthesis of prostaglandins.
