QUICK LINKS

TAPI-2 is a hydroxamic acid-based inhibitor that targets tumor necrosis factor-α converting enzyme (TACE), also known as ADAM17, which plays a significant role in the shedding of membrane-bound proteins. This compound is extensively used in research to study the regulation of ectodomain shedding, a process critical for the maturation and release of cytokines, growth factors, and receptors. By inhibiting TACE, TAPI-2 allows researchers to analyze the consequences of blocking the release of these proteins on cell signaling and immune responses. Additionally, TAPI-2 is applied in investigating the underlying mechanisms of conditions where ADAM17 activity is dysregulated. It acts as a useful tool for dissecting the contributions of proteolytic shedding to cellular communication and pathology.
