SEE ALSO...

TAF II p135 Antibody (22) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects TAF II p135 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-TAF II p135 antibody (22) is available as the non-conjugated format. TAF II p135, also known as TAF4, TAF2C, TAF2C1, TAF4A, or TAFII130, is a crucial 1,085 amino acid subunit of the TFIID complex, which plays a vital role in the initiation of transcription by facilitating the assembly of the preinitiation complex at the TATA promoter element. TAF II p135 is primarily localized in the nucleus, where TAF II p135 interacts with various transcriptional activators and repressors, thereby mediating promoter responses. Notably, TAF II p135 contains a TAFH domain that enables binding to proteins with glutamine-rich domains, such as the transcription factor CREB. This interaction is significant as TAF II p135 may link to neurodegenerative diseases associated with polyglutamine expansions, including Dentatorubropallidoluysian atrophy, Huntington′s disease, and Spinocerebellar ataxia. TAF II p135′s ability to accelerate transcriptional activation in response to thyroid hormone and retinoic acid further underscores its importance in gene regulation and cellular function.
