Syntide-2, Protein Kinase Substrate is a synthetic peptide recognized as a substrate by CaMKII (Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II) enzymes. The sequence of Syntide-2 is homologous to phosphorylation site 2 on glycogen synthase, a target of CaMKII action. Syntide-2 has been used as a probe to assay localization of CaMKII activity and to study the effects of point mutations on phosphorylation activity. Numerous kinase enzymes including CaMKV and Raf-1 are reported to recognize Syntide-2 as a substrate as well, suggesting a wide scope of Syntide-2-assayable systems.
