Syncoilin (SYNC) is a 483 amino acid protein that belongs to the intermediate filament family and plays a crucial role in muscle integrity and function. SYNC is primarily localized to the perinuclear region of the cytoplasm, where SYNC interacts with key proteins such as α-Dystrobrevin and Desmin. This interaction is vital as Syncoilin serves to link the dystrophin-associated protein complex (DAPC) to desmin filaments, thereby providing structural support in cardiac and skeletal muscle tissues.
