QUICK LINKS

Sulfabenzamide is a white or slightly yellow crystalline powder, and it is insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents. It is used as an antibiotic to selectively inhibit the growth of bacterial strains that require PABA. It can also be used as a competitive inhibitor in enzyme assays since it competes with PABA for binding to dihydropteroate synthase.
