QUICK LINKS

Strophanthidin, a potent cardiotonic glycoside, is obtained from the seeds of Strophanthus gratus and other species within the Strophanthus genus. It has been discovered to possess cardiotonic abilities, increasing the contraction force of the heart muscle, in extensive laboratory studies. It has also shown anti-inflammatory properties. Strophanthidin operates by attaching to specific receptors on cell surfaces, which triggers a series of events within the cell. These events activate certain enzymes, leading to the production of compounds that can exert various effects on the body. For instance, the activation of certain enzymes can lead to compounds that enhance the heart muscle′s contraction force. Similarly, certain enzymes′ activation can lead to compounds that can alleviate inflammation.
