STF 083010 inhibits IRE1 endonuclease activity specifically through endogenous XBP1 mRNA splicing. STF 083010 may act to induce cytotoxic and cytostatic effects in CD138+ multiple myeloma (MM) cells in vitro in addition to inhibiting bortezomib-induced XBP1 activity in myeloma xenografts in vivo. STF 083010 shows no effect against IRE1 kinase activity.
