QUICK LINKS

Stat3 inhibitor V, stattic selectively inhibits Stat3, a transcription factor activated in response to cytokines and growth factors, involved in cell growth and apoptosis. It inhibits the activation, dimerization, and nuclear translocation of Stat3, disrupting its ability to initiate transcription of target genes. Stat3 inhibitor V, stattic is used to investigate the role of Stat3 in processes such as cancer cell proliferation, survival, and invasion. By inhibiting Stat3, it reduces the expression of genes involved in angiogenesis and immune evasion, influencing tumor cell behavior. This inhibition provides insights into the signaling mechanisms underlying cancer development.

Is there a recommended stock concentration to dissolve this compound?

Asked by: PIREL
Thank you for your question. We do not recommend a particular stock concentration. The compound is soluble in ethanol (~5 mM), and DMSO (~50 mM), so the concentration of a stock solution can be chosen according to these values. Stat3 inhibitor is insoluble in water.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from STAT3 inhibitionThis inhibitor was use to block STAT3 function in cells. The inhibitory effect is great. One minor effect is that it is slightly cytotoxic to the cells in culture.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ReitsumaReitsuma, JM. et al. (PubMed 23903834) used sc-202818 (Stat3 inhibitor V, Stattic), on MRC-5 fibroblasts, ARPE19 epithelial cells, and U373 astrocytoma cells. Found that Stat3 inhibition resulted in diminished human cytomegalovirus genome replication. -SCBT Publication Review
