SRp20 Antibody (7B4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects SRp20 of mouse, rat, human, and avian origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). SRp20 Antibody (7B4) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase, phycoerythrin, fluorescein isothiocyanate, and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SRp20 plays a crucial role in the regulation of pre-mRNA splicing, a vital process for gene expression and the generation of diverse protein isoforms. SRp20 is primarily located in the nucleus, where SRp20 binds to splicing enhancer elements, which are short RNA sequences that activate weak splice sites in nearby introns. This interaction is essential for accurate splice site recognition and the control of alternative splicing, allowing for the production of multiple mRNA variants from a single gene. SRp20, along with other serine/arginine-rich splicing factors, contains RNA recognition motifs and an arginine/serine-rich domain, which are critical for function. Additionally, SRp20 shuttles between the nucleus and cytoplasm, contributing to mRNA transport, while SRp20 activity can be modulated by antagonistic proteins from the heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein (hnRNP) family, which can shift splicing site selection. The versatility of SRp20 in splicing regulation underscores importance in cellular processes and highlights the relevance of SRp20 (7B4) monoclonal antibody in research focused on gene expression and RNA processing.
