Splicing factor 1 Antibody (H-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects splicing factor 1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-splicing factor 1 antibody (H-9) is available as the non-conjugated form. Splicing factor 1, also known as SF1, zinc finger protein 162, ZFM1, CW17R, and mammalian branch point binding protein (mBBP), plays a crucial role in the splicing process by specifically recognizing the seven-nucleotide branch point sequence located at 3′ splice sites, which is essential for the assembly of early spliceosomal complexes. This function is vital for accurate processing of pre-mRNA, influencing gene expression and cellular function. Splicing factor 1 acts as a transcriptional repressor, potentially regulating proliferation and expression of pro-inflammatory gene products in smooth muscle cells. Expression of splicing factor 1 can be downregulated by cytokines, which may contribute to pathogenesis of hyperproliferative inflammatory diseases. Splicing factor 1 includes a nuclear transport domain, a metal-binding motif, and regions rich in glutamine and proline, which are important for functional interactions. Human splicing factor 1 exists in several isoforms, such as H1-isoform and Bo-isoform, generated through alternative splicing events, adding another layer of complexity to regulatory roles. The gene encoding splicing factor 1 is located on chromosome 11, in proximity to the MEN1 gene, which is associated with multiple endocrine neoplasia-type 1, highlighting potential implications in both normal physiology and disease states.
