QUICK LINKS

sPLA2 (Type III) is an enzyme that belongs to the phospholipase A2 (PLA2) family. It is involved in the hydrolysis of the sn-2 position of phospholipids, resulting in the release of free fatty acids and lysophospholipids. This enzyme distributed in various tissues and also in mammalian pancreatic juice, snake venom, and bee venom. sPLA2 (Type III) plays a role in lipid metabolism and the inflammatory response. It is involved in the regulation of cell signaling and membrane remodeling. This enzyme has been studied for its role in various physiological and pathological processes, including inflammation, atherosclerosis, and cancer. sPLA2 (Type III) exhibis calcium-dependent activity and is sensitive to inhibition by certain small molecules. Its structure and function contributes to a better understanding of lipid metabolism and inflammatory pathways.
