Sparfloxacin is a fluoroquinolone with broad spectrum antibacterial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase). Effective against Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Shows photosensitizing effects. Sparfloxacin is an inhibitor of Topo II.
