SPAG6 Antibody (XX-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 kappa light chain antibody that detects SPAG6 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-SPAG6 antibody (XX-2) is available as the non-conjugated format. SPAG6, or sperm-associated antigen 6, also known as PF16 or Repro-SA-1, is a cytoplasmic protein characterized by eight armadillo repeats, which are crucial for mediating protein-protein interactions. This structural feature suggests SPAG6 may play a vital role in forming complexes with other proteins, thereby influencing various cellular processes. SPAG6 is the mammalian homolog of the Chlamydomonas reinhardtii protein pf16, which is integral to the central apparatus of flagella, sharing 64% amino acid identity. SPAG6 is predominantly expressed in the testis and is essential for sperm tail structure and function, directly impacting flagellar motility and male fertility. SPAG6 interacts with SPAG16, indicating a collaborative role in regulating sperm motility. Four isoforms of SPAG6, resulting from alternative splicing, add another layer of complexity to function and regulation in reproductive biology.
