Sodium sulphobutylether-β-cyclodextrin is a chemically modified derivative of β-cyclodextrin, designed to enhance the solubility and stability of poorly water-soluble compounds. β-cyclodextrins are cyclic oligosaccharides composed of glucose units linked by α-1,4 bonds, forming a torus-like structure with a hydrophilic exterior and a hydrophobic cavity. This unique structure enables cyclodextrins to form inclusion complexes with a wide range of guest molecules by encapsulating them within their hydrophobic core, thus improving their aqueous solubility.
