Sodium carbonate is a useful component used in buffers. It is used as a water softener to get minerals out of water. It can be extracted from many plants growing in sodium rich soils. It can also be used to manufacture glass. Sodium carbonate is a compound that consists of sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) combined with water molecules (H2O).
