SLC25A25 Antibody (4D8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects SLC25A25 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-SLC25A25 antibody (4D8) is available as a non-conjugated antibody. SLC25A25 protein, also known as MCSC (mitochondrial calcium-dependent solute carrier protein), PCSCL, or SCaMC-2 (small calcium-binding mitochondrial carrier protein 2), is a crucial 469 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein that plays a significant role in mitochondrial function. SLC25A25 is part of the solute carrier family 25, which is responsible for the transport of metabolites across the inner mitochondrial membrane. SLC25A25 is primarily localized to the inner mitochondrial membrane and is essential for cellular energy metabolism, as SLC25A25 functions as a calcium-dependent mitochondrial solute carrier. Specifically, SLC25A25 facilitates the transport of magnesium-bound ATP in exchange for phosphate, a process vital for maintaining ATP levels and cellular energy homeostasis. SLC25A25′s structure includes three Solcar repeats and three EF-hand domains, which are critical for calcium-binding capability and transport function. Alternative splicing of the SLC25A25 gene results in six isoforms, with SCaMC-2a being ubiquitously expressed, while SCaMC-2b is predominantly found in lung and kidney tissues. SLC25A25′s ability to regulate mitochondrial calcium levels and ATP transport underscores SLC25A25′s importance in various physiological processes, including muscle contraction and neuronal signaling, making SLC25A25 a valuable target for research in cellular metabolism and related disorders.
