Ski Antibody (G8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the Ski protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-Ski antibody (G8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The Ski protein plays a crucial role in cellular processes as a transcriptional regulator, particularly in the context of TGFβ signaling pathways. Ski protein is primarily located in the nucleus, where Ski protein interacts with Smad proteins to modulate gene expression. This nuclear localization is vital because Ski protein effectively represses Smad-mediated transcriptional activation, thereby inhibiting TGFβ-induced cell growth and extracellular matrix production.
