Sivelestat sodium salt is a potent and selective inhibitor of neutrophil elastase. It functions by binding to the active site of neutrophil elastase, preventing it from cleaving elastin and other extracellular matrix proteins. This inhibition of neutrophil elastase activity helps to reduce tissue damage and inflammation caused by excessive neutrophil activation.
