Sitagliptin phosphate monohydrate is a potent inhibitor of the dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) enzyme, which plays a role in glucose metabolism. By inhibiting this enzyme, Sitagliptin increases the levels of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and gastric inhibitory polypeptide (GIP), enhancing glucose-dependent insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells.
